'80S INFLUENCED HEAVY METAL IN EPIC PROPORTIONS!

See our music at www.reverbnation.com/firestarter82

Long Description

Epic sound inspired by multiple genres of '70s and '80s heavy metal and rock! Shit that will make you implode upon listening!

Bio

Since 2009, Firestarter '82 combines the influences of '80s power thrash, NWOBHM, NES tunes and countless other sub-genres to create an epic powerhouse of '80s-influenced heavy metal. Firestarter '82's line-up was completed in late 2011, and in early 2012, we exploded onto the stages of West By West Music Festival; thus marked the beginning of our journey to rock your worlds, one lick at a time!

Since then, the band has stoked the fires in crowd-goers at multiple venues throughout the Austin music scene and currently continuing to spread its trail of flames to neighboring cities, such as College Station and San Antonio! Sooner or later, we hope for the tongues of our whirling inferno to be felt around the globe! Without you, we are but ashes in the gale.

On Feb. 23rd, 2013, Firestarter '82 celebrated their one-year anniversary of rocking worlds as the trail of flames returned to the stages of Marjorie~Daw for another WXWC Music Festival with strings wailing, vocals screaming and flaming whips cracking. As of mid-2014, Firestarter '82 is in the 2nd phase of progression, which includes finding a band manager, touring, merchandise, recording a full LP, and more.

So far, we have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of Michael Angelo Batio, PHILM, OHM, Anvil and Satan; and are constantly looking to expand our repertoire with bigger and better showcases and live acts.

Stay tuned as the Firestarter '82 saga continues!

    Short Description

Old school, Hardcore, Crossover, Thrash, Grind, Metal, and all you "other" Force Fed's out there, we've been Force Fed since 1990. played with Motorhead, Prong, Crowbar, Carcass, Napalm Death, Obituary just to name a few, What have you done?

    Long Description

Tommy Victor said it best after hearing our demo..."Heavy as !@#$%^&*". Good band.

    Bio

Brett, Scott and Lance started Force Fed in 1989 or early 90 after hearing Prong's Primitive Origins tape, and Force Fed tape. Scott suggested they use the name Force Fed... It stuck, Tommy Victor, Ted Parsons and Raven of Prong all gave their blessing.
Brett was killed in a car wreck in 1991. Scott and Lance decided the last thing Brett would want was us to quit. We started playing parties, clubs, honkytonks, anywhere we could. We played valentines day, Easter Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays at the BackRoom. got screwed by the Backroom ( but who didn't back then?) A lot of locals didn't like us...The punks thought we were too metal and the metalheads thought we were too punk, we didn't sound like everyone else. All the other bands tried to sound like Testement, Sepultura, or Pantera...We wanted to sound like we were from New York city or Venice Beach, we loved the NYC hardcore movement as much as the Venice Beach skate metal/crossover movement.... We finally got our big break... We were asked to be direct support for Motorhead at Sneakers on Lamar... That was the game changer for us. People were coming up to us asking what it was like to tour with Lemmy... ??? I'd tell them we were a local band, been around for 3 years! Really? Never heard of you guys.( Lance sharing a bottle of Jack Daniels and shooting pool is a sight I'll never forget....)
Then Matt started dating Kelly Kaos, a dj at ZRock. We were asked to play ZRock Thursdays at the BackRoom... that led to us opening for roadshows, such as Carcass, Crowbar, Napalm Death, Agent Orange, Prong, Skrew, Drain STH, Life Of Agony, deadhorse...Yes deadhorse, oh the irony. Anyhow, we're all older, wiser, fatter, have families and jobs, but felt like Texas needed a reminder of Force Fed, so there you have it...

      Fuckemos

Developed for amusement in the early '90s, the band was the demented brainchild of Russell Porter and Ed "the Creep" Rancourt, who began writing songs using a toy guitar with a built-in speaker and a voice-altering microphone. Recording to a four-track, the duo began demoing material under the moniker Warthog 2001UK. When they were able to secure opening slots in Austin's scummiest dives, Porter was handling both vocals and drums.

After an incident with security at Austin's famed Emo's nightclub in 1992 in which Porter tried to retrieve his wife from within the club after hours, he went home and sticker-taped the words "Fuck Emos" on his kick drum. The next morning, Warthog 2001UK became the Fuckemos. A simple story. Shortly after, Porter began handling vocals, trombone, and Casio exclusively, handing the drum reins to Sean Powell. Catching the ears of local pop artist Frank Kozik, the band recorded its first album, Fuckemos Can Kill You, in 1994, through Kozik's Rise Records (reissued via Man's Ruin in 1999).

      Fuckemos

The Fuckemos mixed slurred, druggy detachment with punk rock irreverence and undeniably catchy songwriting to become one of the most unlikely Red River-bred success stories of Austin's early 1990s. Initially formed in 1991 as Warthog 2000, the Fuckemos moniker took hold a year later when vocalist/keyboardist/trombonist Russell Porter was unceremoniously kicked out of Emo's. According to Porter, at least 16 people played in the Fuckemos during the band's decadelong lifespan. After Porter, guitarist Ed Rancourt and drummer Sean Powell were the most consistent members. The oft-rotating bass chair was filled by Mike Belyea (Unicorn Magic), Marc Fort (Bo Bud Greene), Brent Prager (Cherubs), Arman Mabry (Hamicks), and Wade Longenburger (Squat Thrust), among others. The group first achieved local renown in 1993 with a free cassette they handed out around town. Their sing-along ditties about pedophilia, impotence, gay sailors, and Nazis were made even more depraved by Porter's demonic pitch-shifted vocals. In an ironic twist, the band became one of the most popular selections on Emo's jukebox by year's end. Rise Records reissued the band's first cassette as Fuckemos Can Kill You in 1994. Two years later, Hi. What Stupid Band Are You In? spewed forth the fist-pumping regurgitation anthem "Barf Baby" as well as an improbable cover of Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land." In 1999, Porter co-starred in Bob Ray's Rock Opera, a celluloid portrayal of Austin's low-rent punk rock subculture interwoven with a storyline about a pot deal gone bad. The Fuckemos stopped performing regularly after the release of Airshow 2000, but the band has continued to reconvene for periodic reunion shows. – Greg Beets

Numerous singles and drunken, unrehearsed shows followed. In 1995, the band recorded the follow-up, Lifestyles of the Drugged & Homeless, on poster artist Lindsay Kuhn's No Lie imprint (now out of print). A year later, the band returned with Black Helicopters, later to be reissued on Man's Ruin. By 1997, Porter and Powell had gone through lineup changes too numerous to mention, but secured bass player -- and former Cherubs drummer -- Brent Prager and guitarist Brian McGee and created the oddball, upbeat Celebration!, their first album release through Man's Ruin. In 1999, Kozik reissued Can Kill You and Black Helicopters. The band followed in 2000 with Airshow 2000, perhaps its most involved and sophisticated recording.

      • Bio
Formed as the brain child of Derek K bassist of Confuzatron & Orange Platypus, Mark and Derek thought it would be a great idea to start a band. Mark known from his bass playing days in The Moistboyz worked with Derek and got together with Dave Rangel bassist of Black Earth and guitarist/vocalist of Orange Platypus. Bringing Dave in was a no brainer considering he had previously torn up the Texas rock scene with Derek in Orange Platypus years before, then on guitar. The three tried out drummers of each kind, until Mark brought Gonzalo into the mix. Once the 4 got together for the first time, Funeral Kab was formed. With punk rock intensity, heavy riffing, big bottom end, the ribbon that put this package together was Gonzalo's technical arsenal of drum beats! This layed the foundation for what would be their kickass live show and high energy punk rock. After Gonzalo's departure, FK incorporated Ben Scott as their new drummer. Keep an eye out as Funeral Kab will definately take everyone in their path for a ride of pure intense punk rock and melodic destruction!

The Wild, Wild World Of Sports.

Big dumb party rock. Imagine a low rent, rootsy version of the Happy Mondays and you're on the way.

      Bio:

The Gay Sportscasters were formed way back in 1995. Singer Jeff Smith had the band name kicking around in his head for a number of years, his only real goal being to have some T-shirts bearing the band name with Howard Cossell holding a microphone that resembled a penis. His wildest dreams were exceeded as he found a number of co-conspirators (including longtime friend and songwriting partner "$3" Bill Wise, Evan Johns and Jeff Daniels). The 7 piece "stuporgroup" played their first show at South By Southwest that year. The band received a glowing mention in Rolling Stone for that frenzied first performance and a number of shows followed but the band was all but done within a year, collapsing under the weight of its' seven players personality conflicts and their own "fame". The band was resurrected in 2009 and regularly play around Texas to enthusiastic crowds with their dancing girls "The Lollygaggers".
